AnnMarie & Billy
Engaged at the Utica Train Station
Since I had moved out of the Utica area shortly after high school, I do not get to shoot at the train station downtown very often. As many of you may know, the transportation center in Syracuse isn't exactly picturesque, so when AnnMarie and Billy asked me to shoot at the Utica Train Station, I was excited!! I met up with them on a quiet day for travelers, so it was a perfect day for us! We had a great time walking around the area for a few hours, with so few people around that we wondered if they were even open.... I loved that a small group of guys were skateboarding on the side of the building, so we got a few shots with them in it before they were threatened to be arrested for trespassing, haha! Every couple is a bit nervous about their session before we start shooting - it is to be expected. However, I can say with absolute certainty that AnnMarie and Billy loosened up much faster than any other couple that I have every worked with (sorry everyone!).... There are plenty of other photos from their session that I am sure you'll appreciate. While they might not have hit the blog post, you can get ahold of them to partake in the hilarity. Enjoy!
Jillian & Theodore
Married at the Otesaga Hotel
Jillian and Theodore said their vows this February at the amazing Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown. The best part about getting married during the winter in Cooperstown is being the ONLY people in the entire hotel. Jill & Ted were able to make use of each and every space in the hotel for their beautiful wedding day.
The day started with all of the girls getting ready in one of the board rooms on the first floor. Jill's hand made dress was hanging in the center of the room for the entire morning. Amazingly enough, her mother handmade the entire thing! The skirt was made from portions of Jill's mother's wedding dress, and the lace was from her Grandmother's! At the same time, Ted and the guys were upstairs, likely sleeping still! (I heard they had a late evening the night before!)... Once everyone was all ready to go, Jill and the girls walked down the aisle in the ballroom for a ceremony. Each of the wedding party members were active participants as they had the opportunity to share a reading with Jill & Ted's guests.
After they were pronounced man & wife, everyone moved to the main lobby, which served as a beautiful location for a few cocktails before dinner. Finally, everyone moved to their final location for the night, the grand ballroom on the other end of the resort. Jill & Ted's guests enjoyed a delicious plated dinner to fuel up for an evening of toasts and dancing.
As we all know, winter in upstate New York can be a bit unpredictable. However, I can not express my pleasure about how perfect the weather was for us on Jill & Ted's wedding day. The roads were clear and dry for everyone traveling in to Cooperstown. But later in the evening, the most perfect snow began to fall. This was fine with their guests, because for the most part they only had to go up a flight or two of stairs!

Heidi & Nick
Here we go - Heidi & Nick's engagement session! I am not quite sure if I have ever worked with a couple that has had so much fun during their engagement session. There wasn't really a serious moment during the entire afternoon that we spent together. In reality, this is who Heidi and Nick are as a couple. They get along so well, and are always goofing off. You really can't take anything in life too seriously - most people take their entire lives to figure that out, but Heidi & Nick have gotten that part out of the way early, and are on their way to an amazing marriage!
Bryn & Justin
Engaged on Montgomery Street
Once or twice per year, I have the opportunity to work with someone from my past or that I have a close connection to. When Bryn & Justin got ahold of me, I quickly realized that not only did I know Bryn from high school, but have known Justin's father for a number of years as well. This made our first meeting more about catching up, rather than making sure I knew how to put batteries in my flash. As Justin's father is a seasoned photographer, Justin is naturally a seasoned subject! I know that most guys get pretty stressed out about an upcoming engagement session, as they're usually dragged there by their fiancé. However, Justin ended up being a willing and enthusiastic participant! Bryn & Justin both braved what looked like a cold dreary day in CNY for our session, and I am extremely pleased with the images that we captured throughout the duration of our session. In reality, that "dreary" day turned out to be the perfect day to show their love and excitement to get married this summer!
Christina & Mike
A Toasty Day at Green Lakes
I met up with Christina & Mike on the 28th of January at one of the best nature spots in CNY - We were definitely expecting to freeze, as shooting in January is typically like shooting at the North Pole. Much to our surprise, it was quite warm out, with some nice sun for the entire session. I was happy to get some snow to include a cool blue color in some of our shots! Throughout the shoot, I felt a bit bad throughout our session, because the trail was either solid ice, or slushy mud. Christina didn't care one bit - she kept on moving in her heels, and holding Mike up while she was at it.
Christina & Mike are planning on tying the knot this coming July at St. Helena's in Sherrill, and then party it up at the Radisson for the rest of the night. We're looking forward to a wonderful Sunday night with the future Mr. & Mrs. Deep!
