Jon & Sarah
Married at Old Hickory Farm
Working in the wedding industry, I am afforded the opportunity to meet a number of pretty amazing people. Sarah and Jon are certainly no exception to that rule. Jon an I started our businesses at the same time a number of years ago, and learned and grew together. We had agreed a while ago that he would be the DJ at my wedding, and I would photograph his wedding. Well the time came for both of us, and we got to be a huge part of each other's big day!
Enter Sarah .... yeah, she is pretty awesome!! She is so kind, talented, and she even likes Jon! These two get along so incredibly well, and watching their wedding unfold was a fantastic experience. They worked together in the beginning of the day to put the finishing touches on their reception space before they went their separate ways to get ready to say their vows. I loved how sneaky Sarah and her side of the wedding party was when Jon and the guys went to lunch. They briefly rehearsed a "Surprise" for Jon while he was out.
Jon & Sarah were married in the barn at Old Hickory Farm by their good friend, Kevin Witmer. They both wrote their own vows, and naturally there was not a dry eye in the house (including Jon & Sarah's!!). Fast forward to their introductions - The whole place was on their feet when Jon & Sarah came into the building, and they pulled out all of the stops for their first dance, when they "Danced on the clouds"... yup, epic. Continuing with the amazing evening, Sarah's side of the wedding party each gave part of the toast, handing her a puzzle piece following their words which created a heart for them to keep.
While I hate pulling brides & grooms when they're eating, I didn't have much of a choice on this particular day. The sunset was just too colorful to pass up. We took some quick images when the sky was on fire, and sent Jon & Sarah back to finish their meals.... Scroll down, you'll see that it was worth it.
The rest of the evening was an absolute blast. EVERYONE was on the dance floor for the entire night. Between songs, Sarah and her side of the wedding party presented her "Surprise" for Jon. This surprise consisted of a medley of "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King and "This Must be the Place" by Talking Heads. Sarah's bridesman, Sam Peters arranged it! (Nice job!) .... Overall, it was incredible day and I enjoyed being part of my good friends' wedding!
